From Single Mom to Maker: The Real Story Behind A&A Custom Creations
Welcome to A&A Custom Creations: Where Dreams Meet Affordable Reality
Pull up a chair, grab your favorite warm drink, and welcome to my very first blog post! I am so incredibly happy you are here in my creative corner of the internet. If you’ve ever scrolled through social media looking for that perfect, unique gift but felt your heart sink when you saw the price tag, then you are exactly where you belong.
I’ve always been a naturally crafty person. I love the feeling of taking raw materials and transforming them into something special. But a few years ago, after going through my divorce, life looked a lot different. Suddenly, I was a single mom of two young children, trying to stretch a paycheck that already felt spread incredibly thin.
We all know how hard it can be to find the perfect gift for that "hard-to-buy-for" best friend or family member. I wanted to give those gorgeous, custom-glitter tumblers and personalized shirts you see all over Etsy, but my budget simply said no.
Why "You Dream It, We Create It" Means Something Deeper
Instead of giving up, I decided to start making those gifts myself. I started small, using whatever creative sparks I had to surprise my family and friends. Before long, a wonderful thing happened—they loved them so much that they started asking me to make custom pieces for their loved ones.
That’s when A&A Custom Creations was truly born, but it also brought a major internal struggle: What do I charge?
Could I charge $45 for a beautifully detailed custom tumbler? Yes, absolutely. And let me make one thing completely clear—the crafters who charge those prices deserve every single penny. Making handmade gifts is a true art form. It takes hours of time, physical creativity, and expensive materials. When you make a mistake in this line of work, it is a costly mistake. You can't just crumple up a piece of paper, throw it away, and start over. We put our hearts, souls, and financial investments into making one-of-a-kind items, and that dedication absolutely has a price tag attached to it.
But my own heart wouldn't let me charge that much. I remembered exactly what it felt like to be unable to afford those luxuries. Right then, I made a promise to myself: as long as I wasn't losing money, I was making money. I’m not in this business to get rich. My mission is to take those beautiful, expensive-looking gifts and make them truly affordable for people just like me.
The Piece That Started It All: Our First Mother’s Day Tumbler

To show you exactly what I mean by our slogan, "You Dream It, We Create It," I want to share the story of the very first Mother’s Day tumbler I ever designed.
A friend of mine reached out with a heartfelt request. She wanted to give her mom something special but unique. She sent me a photograph of her mom’s absolute favorite flowers and asked if I could create a tumbler featuring those specific blooms with the words "World's Best Mom" resting right above them.
The moment she gave me her basic vision, my creative energy completely took over. Because I want every customer to get exactly what they are imagining, I didn't just make one design—I created three entirely different digital mockups of her vision. I brought her into the creative process, let her choose the version that made her heart happiest, and then brought it to life. Seeing her mom open a gift that was completely tailored to her favorite things—without breaking my friend's bank account—is exactly why I do this.
